Fraser Suites Edinburgh is a Green Tourism Hotel
Hotels, just like any other business, have a responsibility to take the proper steps towards being environmentally responsible. That’s why Fraser Suites Edinburgh recently was assessed by Green Tourism and were found to meet the criteria for a Silver Green Tourism certification.
We are delighted to be rated to this high standard as we continue our journey to become as green as possible.
What is Green Tourism?
Green Tourism is a UK based certification programme aimed at highlighting the ways any business in the tourism industry is actively attempting to be environmentally responsible. The certification helps highlight the green qualities of a business and also helps us find new ways to make our property more environmentally responsible for guests.
What factors determine how well a hotel can be rated?
Factors we were assessed on include:
- Water Usage
- Energy Consumption
- Eco-friendly waste disposal
As part of the certification process, we were also asked about awareness of green spaces around Edinburgh and how we can help guests looking to see the natural side of the city.
How did Fraser Suites Edinburgh achieve a silver rating?
The accreditation process was carried out by an independent representative on behalf of Green Tourism. They looked at how we deal with factors like those listed above before making a precise determination on what status the hotel should be awarded.
One area we did well in was transport. Our location between Waverley Station and the historic Royal Mile makes the hotel a prime location for green travellers who prefer to use public transport and to visit some of the city’s major attractions on foot.
Does the rating affect the average stay at Fraser Suites Edinburgh?
Not at all. We take every measure possible to ensure guests have the best stay possible.
What improvements can Fraser Suites Edinburgh take towards being more environmentally responsible?
We have taken on board some of the feedback received by Green Tourism and are already seeking out opportunities to improve our environmental impact and hopefully get a gold rating in the near future.Close
